FAQ
I will ask about the condition you are presenting with (type of pain, how long you’ve had it, how did it start, what makes it feel better or worse). I will ask about your current health and previous history. I will then examine you to assess the problem. I will then make a provisional diagnosis and discuss with you whether treatment is appropriate (sometimes it is necessary to refer people to their GP or other practitioner, if the problem is not thought to be suitable for osteopathic treatment). If appropriate I will then treat you using the techniques described previously.
Generally you do not have to get undressed down to your underwear, but bear in mind that I would need to reach the area that needs treatment, and it is best to wear loose or stretchy clothing. If you are not wearing appropriate clothing e.g. if you have to come straight from work, you can bring clothing to change into. For example if you have neck and shoulder pain, it would be best to wear a vest top, or if your legs are to be exposed, to bring shorts to change into. It is always best to ask if you are unsure.
This depends on a number of factors such as how long you have had the problem, (for example, a problem which you have only had for a couple of weeks and which started with an obvious injury such as a back injury from bending over, may only need one or two treatments). If you have something which has been present or developing for several months you are likely to need more several more treatments. It also depends on whether you are able to help yourself, (for example with exercises and lifestyle changes).
I can take card, cash or cheque at the time of treatment or BACS payment in advance. I am able to accept payment from many insurance companies (except Bupa), following suitable referral procedures. Please ask when you make the appointment.
The first treatment (which includes consultation) is 1 hour (£55.00). Follow up treatments are 45 minutes (£50.00).
Parking is immediately outside the clinic, and there is a step into the treatment room. I am not able to offer wheelchair access, but I will do home visits at no extra charge for those unable to access the room, within a 5 mile radius.
